Saturday Success Story! The Third Time's a Charm for OSLive at Rosetti Park!

Ocean Springs, MS, August 8: Ocean Springs LIVE’s third installment in its free summer concert series held this Saturday August 6 in downtown Ocean Spring’s Rosetti Park saw a bustling park full of enthusiastic music lovers celebrating summer, community and the love of Blues music on International Blues Music Day. The event proved once again that Ocean Springs, MS has become Mississippi’s Live Music Capital.

The convergence of vendors, community partners and an exuberant crowd filled Rosetti park with the Gulf Coast’s newest and most dynamic, family-friendly FREE summer concert experience. A look at the audience quickly revealed a wide demographic of attendees of all ages along with groups of friends and families setting up a comfortable footprint of blankets and folding chairs to enjoy the experience. Following the performances, concert goers hit downtown Ocean Springs in force to enjoy any of at least 13 separate live music after hours options as part of the OSLive ‘After Dark’ series.

Before Jonathan “Boogie” Long and Jamell Richardson hit the stage, local favorites Blackwater Brass opened the show. Blackwater Brass recently gained the accolade of “Favorite Local Musician(s)” in the People’s Choice Awards conducted by the Sun Herald news. In 2011 Jonathan earned the national distinction of being crowned Guitar Center’s “King of the Blues”in a nationwide competition involving thousands of guitarists. Jamell Richardson, a Mississippi native, is known regionally as the “Gulf Coast Blues Boy” and was even included in the 2014 biopic of James Brown, “Get on Up.” Prior to Blackwater Brass’ performance, students from the Rock U2 Music Academy impressed the crowd and proved that the next generation of musicians is on a great footing, at least as far as the Ocean Springs community is concerned!
